All This Snuggery Biz

Photobucket

We are in NY with the Bruiser this week. We are laying low and crate training Hemmy. Needless to say, the last trip here was more glamorous.

A few weeks after Bruce moved back to New York, I went up for a visit. I know I always say this but there is not one thing in this world I love more than exploring with mah Bruiser. God knew what he was doing when he put two of the biggest history nerds together.

Right outside of Bruce's hometown is Springfield, the estate of Franklin D Roosevelt. The grounds contain not only the home of FDR but....(wait for it)....the very first Presidential library. Nerd. Alert.

SEC Havanese

Photobucket

Now, please excuse me as I ramble on my dog who I am madly in love with and equally exhausted with.

I have decided to forgo some important training techniques.  I can not, for the life of me, get him to not scream bloody ass murder in his crate when he can't see me.  Meaning, he'll sleep in it at night but completely lose his mind if he has to stay in there during the day (I mean, can you REALLY blame him?)

I had a dog trainer come to the house this week and she told me not to ever let him on the couch.  He has to know you are the master and him climbing on the couch with you makes him think he's at my level.  Well, in the Snuggery, he is at my level....mainly because my back hurts having to sit on the floor to play with him all night.

But what I will never ever give up on...making this dog love and appreciate the Bayou Bengals.  Therefore, we are naming stuffed animals after rival SEC teams.  Nothing makes me more proud than when he starts throwing em against the wall and tearing at their heads.

So far he has Aubie (from the lovely Lady Margaret)

And he has Uga (from Sir Hudson)

Eggcrate Attack

What's a pup to do when an eggcrate starts talking shit?

Attack.

I woke up this morning to a clean cleaner house (Hemmy and I have very different opinions on what constitutes clean), my parents are coming to visit me this weekend (AHHHHH!) and I am pretty sure the Hempsters didn't go ape-shit when I left the house this morning.

Puppy Noise

Photobucket

I am having a particularly sad week missing the Bruiser.

Monday Update

First off, the Hempsters and I survived our first week together. It wasn't easy but we did it. I am really hoping this constant fear of me accidentally killing him goes away really soon. I can't handle this.

I went home at lunch today to let him out and during the walk, he stopped and laid down on his side in the middle of a patch of grass. So, naturally, I think he's at home dying right now.

Don't you already feel sorry for my unborn, unnamed and completely not even in the picture children?

Whining and Wining

Photobucket

It's been a rough week for the Snuggery. There is nothing about being left alone that little mister likes. Nothing. He works himself up into such a frenzy when I leave (I dare say, can you blame him!?!?) that by the end of the day, he's usually looking like this...

The Hemmy Shemmy

Photobucket

Sir Bruiser (see, if I can do it, why can't he?) is coming in tonight so we can go get my baby dog tomorrow. I am so excited. I can't sleep. I can't focus. I just want the dog.

(Here is the original post about Sir Hemmingway, Earl of the Snuggery)

I believe this is what they call "nesting"?

Smart Grooming

Now, I am sure as Gandhi fought for justice he wasn't thinking..."If only people would brush their teeth as they gain the enlightenment I aim to teach". My deepest respect and apologies to him but I think this could earn a place on my bathroom wall so I can see it everyday. Yes, dear world, the bathroom is where I am most enlightened in the morning (insert joke here).

A Junior in High School Caught Off Guard with Simple Taxes

Photobucket

Oh, so I decided to turn 32 this month. I am meeting this age with lots of mixed emotions. Part of me feels so proud of what I have accomplished and proud of my body for toughing out all the awful things I have put it through in my 20's.

Laaaaaaay-daaaaaay

Things are moving WAY too fast. Like WAAAAAY too fast. I really had such good intentions to stay on top of the blog but this was a month of picking my battles.

So, let's call this a catch up week, shall we?

Three weeks ago (urgh, that is so embarrassing to write that) was Bruiser's first weekend back with me in the Snuggery (will explain this one soon). Oh, to have him home was just awesome. We had the kind of weekend where we got the oil changed in the car and ate pancakes twice...just cause we could.
